How the Long Tru-Cool
(LPD) Transmission Coolers Works:
(LPD) Low Pressure Drop
Cooler
When Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is cold it is
viscous. The unique Tru-Cool design allows the colder,
thicker ATF to flow more efficiently through two open
bypass channels positioned at the top of the cooler.
As operating temperatures increase, the ATF becomes
hotter and thinner. It is then directed through the core
where it is cooled.
Tru-Cool’s highly efficient cooling technology combines
improved protection against lube system failure with
optimal heat transfer.
Long®
Auxiliary Stacked Plate and Plate/Fin Transmission Oil Coolers
The Long Tru Cool LPD Auxiliary
Coolers are available in stack-plate design and in plate-and-fin design. The
former features embossed plates that stack up and the latter employs fins
between oil channels. These LPD Tru Cool, thick coolers come with the standard
installation kit.
While the fin & plate design
Long Tru Cool (LPD) Coolers, offer high heat transfer performance and low
air-side pressure drop, the stack-plate coolers feature very high durability.
These coolers are installed on vehicle fronts for auxiliary cooling of passenger
cars and light trucks.
Long Transmission Cooler, standard
installation kit will include
Long Tru Cool (LPD) Cooler,
hose, fitting, and hardware for your installation. These kit also contain
two styles of mounting hardware, quick connect nylon straps and steel mounting
for easy installation. Each kit comes with complete mounting instructions
for proper installation locations.
