ACC PERFORMANCE TORQUE CONVERTERS

ACC PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS

RACING / STALL,  TORQUE CONVERTERS

As of October 2005 ACC Performance Products has taken on new ownership, now bringing Aircraft Engineering and Quality Control to the High Performance Torque Converter Industry. ACC Performance Products is using "World Class Manufacturing" combined with "Just in Time Manufacturing" to get you the highest quality parts available combined with impeccable delivery times.

The Automotive industry now has a new Torque Converter Leader.  ACC has emerged as a out-right leader in this industry and here is why:

HARDENED HUB

This is a hardened hub for durability and a clean fit with your transmission seal.  We set very strict tolerances with the run-out on our torque converters.  This measurement is taken from the hub in conjunction with the pilot.  All of our torque converters are set at + or -, 0.005" to 0.030".  This will give you better overall performance and a longer lasting torque converter.

IMPELLER IS WELDED

The impeller is also known as the pump.  This is the side of the converter that goes toward the transmission.  We weld the fins in to draw the metal.  This also makes the fins much stronger than other methods.  We also bend some of the fins to control the fluid in order to reach a desired stall.  The impeller works using the spinning force from the engine and the fins to pump the fluid.  The impellers use the fins in order to direct the fluid to reach a certain pressure to drive the transmission.

STATOR

We use many different pitched fined stators in order to reach the many different stalls we offer.  We rarely cut the stator because of the slippage that can be created.  The sprag and the race are hardened to give long life and fight heat as well.  Our stators are built to handle very high horse-powered engines.  By obtaining the stall using this method, it allows our torque converters to put more of your engines power to the ground.  It also makes our parts create less heat, making them more efficient.

WELDED TURBINES

Our turbines are tightened and then welded just as our impellers are.  This makes the fins in the turbine tighten up in order to take a lot of abuse.  Our turbines also feature a hardened spline.  These features allow our parts to take more abuse and gain durability.  We build our parts to last under extreme duress.

FIBER WASHER PLACEMENT

Every where possible, we are trying to take out the weak stops in all of the converters.  In some of the converters we have replaced the fiber washers/spacers with an Aircraft Quality spacer that can handle well beyond the rest of the converter.

OVER SIZED BEARINGS

We have gotten rid of all of the waffle bearings and have replaced them with high quality and high strength bearings.  In our high stall converters, we use a heavy duty bearing that comes out of a stamping press.  This means it can take the shocking, extreme abuse that is demanded by serious, high horsepower engines.

HIGH TECH WELDS

Our welds are a military style of positive charged weld.  We "MIG" weld all our converter with a fusion type weld.  This means we get a hot weld that sprays the wire to the metal with such a high temp that it actually makes the weld stronger than the other ones.  We do not cut any corners with our welds on our converters.

All ACC torque converters are warranted for a period of 90 days to be free of defects in material or workmanship under normal operating conditions, providing normal application and installation methods are followed. This warranty does not cover any units that have been tampered with or altered prior to our inspection and is limited to the replacement of the defective torque converter upon our inspection.

ACC is offering the following converter for your applications:

The Outlaw, Wild Boar Series Converters

ACC is proud to introduce the new "Outlaw, Wild Boar" Converters to our product line. These units are built with the same quality as the Boss Hog; but, have the added features of welded or furnace brazed and anti ballooning plates. These converters were designed for applications with added horsepower, such as nitrous and/or trans brake applications. If your crankin horse power, these are the converters for you ride....

The NEW Outlaw, "WILD BOAR" converters are 9 1/2 inches in diameter and stall speeds range from 2400 to 5000 RPM depending on the level 1 thru 5.

Outlaw Level 1: 2400-2800 Stall Range
Outlaw Level 2: 2800-3200 Stall Range
Outlaw Level 3: 3200-3500 Stall Range
Outlaw Level 4: 3500-4200 Stall Range
Outlaw Level 5: 4200-5000 Stall Range

Remember that the actual Stall is depending on your vehicle setup.

If you know the RPM of your peak torque choose a stall speed that is about 250-500 RPM less. Cams with advertised durations up to 248 degree generally like stalls around 2000-2400 RPM, cams up to 268 degree-2400-3000 RPM, cams up to 288 degree plus, 3000-3600 RPM. If you are not for sure choose a stall about 50 RPM more that the starting RPM Power Range of your cam normally works well.
